What is an ECU or EADL?
An ECU (Environmental Control Unit) or EADL (Electronic Aid for Daily Living) allows a person with a physical limitation or disability to manipulate or control devices in his or her environment. Everyday activities that people without disabilities take for granted, like turning on a light switch or changing the television channel, can be very difficult for someone with physical limitations. ECUs give people with these limitations the ability to execute these activities through the use of assistive technology.
What are the advantages of SAJE Technology products over other ECU products?
With the SAJE COMMUNICATOR and POWERHOUSE line of products, you can make telephone calls and control your environment simply by using voice commands that you specify. With all of our products, there is NO VOICE TRAINING REQUIRED! Our speech recognition engine is speaker independent, so there are no long training sessions required as with most ECU systems on the market.
With our POWERHOUSE line of products, the voice commands that you give the system are DIRECT voice commands. With some of the other ECU products on the market, you have to navigate through a “Voice Tree”. The navigation can be extremely frustrating when trying to surf through television channels and completing multiple commands in a short period of time. With our POWERHOUSE systems, you only need to speak the direct command (i.e. TV POWER, BEDROOM LIGHT, DVD PLAY) you wish to execute and you will then have audio confirmation that this command is being performed.
Another advantage of our ECU systems is that they can be controlled by voice, switch, or via an Internet accessible private web page (included with our POWERHOUSE HOME system). Also, our microphone/speaker input device can be worn as a headset (for private phone conversations) or our speakerphone device can be used either mounted to a bed or attached to a wheelchair. Our microphone/speaker input device for ALL of our systems is wireless from our basestation up to 500 feet which gives our clients the versatility to use their system anywhere in your homes without having to be tethered to a wall power cord.
What types of devices can be controlled by SAJE Technology products?
As for the devices our POWERHOUSE ECUs can control, the possibilities are virtually endless! Some of the devices we control on a normal basis include:

What is the setup time for SAJE Technology products?
The setup time for our products varies greatly depending on which products you will be installing, as well as what options you have chosen. Our COMMUNICATOR BASIC product can be installed in about 10 minutes. Someone with basic computer knowledge can perform the installation without the need for an on-site dealer visit. We estimate the COMMUNICATOR COMPLETE product install at about an hour with setup and training. The POWERHOUSE ROOMATE PLUS and HOME products can take anywhere from 5 to 20 hours depending on what is involved. SAJE Technology can normally give you a pretty good idea of how long your install may take based on the options you have selected.
Does SAJE Technology provide technical support?
Absolutely! A representative is available from 10 A.M. to 5 P.M. Central Time, Monday through Friday via phone or email. We realize that there are times that installs are performed during off hours. Simply give us prior notice, and we will make sure that someone is available to answer any of your questions during your scheduled install time. |
